Murfin
Muff (John) Murfin is a music writer who wrote the theme music to the
TV series 'The Gladiators,' and has been responsible for numerous radio
jingle packages over the years. He is also a music producer and publisher.
In 1977 he built The Old Smithy Recording Studio in the grounds of his
property. It has been a phenomenal success having been used by many
famous bands. Muff is also involved in the radio business. He was a
founder member of Radio Wyvern, and also a founding shareholder of The
Bear in Stratford. He purchased KiX 96.2fm in Coventry before selling
it to the CN Radio group, Radio Maldwyn in mid-Wales, Sunshine 855 in
Ludlow, Classic Gold Radio (now Classic Hits) serving Herefordshire
and Worcestershire and Mansfield 103.2. The Old Smithy Recording Studios
create radio adverts for some of these stations.

Richard's interest in recording began at a young age playing with an
Amstrad Studio100 4 track tape machine. As a teenager he played guitar
in the band 'Guppy' and taught himself how to use software like soundforge
and cool edit pro for recording and composition. Upon completing his
A-Levels he came to Worcester to study Music Technology, eventually
achieving a HND and subsequently finding employment at The Old Smithy
Recording Studios. Since then Richard has worked on numerous projects
ranging from 30 piece brass bands, 10 piece jazz outfits, heavy rock
bands and artists such as Chris Slade and Tony Christie.
